Great add-on for PLA printers

The eSun eBox is used to dry PLA filament during printing. Keeping the PLA filament dry is critical to getting the best prints. [Also, I keep each spool of filament in a sealed Sistema container with desiccant bags to keep the filaments dry.] To use, simply pop a desiccant bag or two into the back of the machine behind the fan (first photo). ), place the spool of thread on the two spools and close the cover. The thread runs through a small hole in the writing; eSun provides a guide that guides the filament up or down depending on placement. I found that using the manual isn't necessary, so I don't use it. eSun also offers ground tubes for those who need them. The second photo shows filament being fed from the eBox directly into my printer's Chiron extruder. On the front of the eBox is a control panel consisting of 4 buttons sandwiched between a backlit display (Photo 3: no backlit display). Four ON/OFF and mode selection buttons to the left of the display and UP and DOWN buttons to the right of the display. eBox has five modes: (1) weight in grams; (2) weight in pounds; (3) WOC (empty bobbin weight); (4) temperature setting; and (5) hold time. When you turn on the eBox, the display will light up (and stay on for 5 seconds if no other buttons are selected) showing the net weight of line remaining on the spool. (The WOC setting is the weight of the empty spool which is automatically subtracted from the total weight of the spool installed to give the displayed net weight). Repeatedly pressing the mode selection button toggles between the different modes. For example, if you are printing a PLA vase that you estimate will take 6 hours to print, select Temp 1 (for PLA) and set the time to 6 hours. After 6 hours the heating is switched off. I think the eBox is a great addition to my 3D printer. Being able to keep the filament dry during printing improved the quality of the printed object, and being able to see the weight of the remaining filament is beneficial. I prefer the spool feed from inside the eBox to the spool hanger that comes with the Chiron printer which is prone to moisture and dust.
