First of all you need to have strong anchor points. Without them, you will have trouble aligning them. I found a youtube video that explains how to wire my chinese gate opener. The instructions for my opener say this is a model SGO-0000-00. The YouTube video said it was for the CO-Z model. Luckily the information was correct and it worked on the first try. Go to YouTube and find a video to see how to do it step by step. But in the fast version, the brown wire goes to 24V DC, the blue and white wires go to GND, the gray wire goes to IR, and the black wire is not used. There is also a jumper connecting IR and GND that needs to be removed before connection. This schematic will flip the gate if you try to close it when something is blocking the beam. Refer to the gate opener manual for the location of the connectors on the gate opener control board. I've seen a few other reviews stating that the sensor isn't waterproof and that the reflector won't work if it gets wet. So I made hideouts for both of them. I noticed that you can cover the sensor with a clear plastic bag and it will still work. Perhaps a clear plastic case would work as well. It also turned out that the round red bike reflector would work just as well as the square white one that comes with the kit. My gate opener is powered by an inverter connected to a solar panel, so I had to be careful how much electricity it would use. If it draws 20mA in standby mode and 40mA in active mode, as per the specs, that's around 6-12 watt hours per day. This should be within the free capacity of my system. So far it's working as I had hoped. If I run into any problems in the future I will edit this review.
