I was concerned that the distance was overstated, but this ended up working perfectly. From the middle of my home (through several interior and one exterior wall), then across a 300ft distance outside, I had no issue whatsoever. I walked to the back of my pasture to add another several hundred feet and over a curve in the ground that prevents line of sight and it still worked about half the time (which would be just fine assuming I needed it for a light that I could see turning on/off). This was an excellent solution for getting an indoor switch for my pasture lights to check on animals at night.I set up a floodlight about 15 feet high leading into a sealed PVC box that houses the receiver, then down to my power source. It works great. In case you aren't familiar with electromagnetic inference or Faraday cages, I very strongly recommend that you do not put the receiver in a metal box as it will significantly degrade (if not completely eliminate) communications with your switch(es).I especially love that I was able to buy the receiver/switch set to try it out and install it, then later buy and install another switch to have one out in the tack house. I will update my review if I encounter any problems in the future.
