I have 4 of these and bought 5 or 6 more as gifts. I keep one in my leather bag, one in my truck, another in my hunting backpack and the last one in my shop. Nothing roughens a blade quite like this sharpener. I've been buying them since 2002 and I can't tell you how good they are. I drive sailboats and nothing dulls a blade quite like cutting Kevlar or Dynamo. A rough mini-sharp requires 4 or 5 strokes and the blade is as sharp as it gets. If you want to fine sharpen your blades or chisels you might want to look for a combination medium and fine sharpener, but for field work it would be a big mistake to choose any other sharpener. It's tiny, about 3.5 inches when folded, very light, and with a key chain, you can tie it anywhere. Can't say enough good things about this product. When one wears out (which takes quite a while) I don't hesitate to buy another one as the price is attractive. I usually wash them with lukewarm water every few months or whenever fine dust collects in my pores.
