Review on πŸ”Œ LYFNLOVE 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Power Adapter, Charging Port, and Individual Switches – Ideal for Computer, PC, Laptop, and More by Ryan Carter

Revainrating 2 out of 5

This is a USB 2.0 hub, not a USB 3.0 as advertised!

Now I use a VOGEK USB 3.0 hub. I recently bought a LYFNLOVE 3.0 hub and did some comparative testing. The software I use is called "USBFlashSpeed". There are many similar software on the internet, but this one is very convenient and informative, and besides, it's free. In tests I used two flash drives: PNY 3.0 128GB and SANDISK Cruzer Fit USB 2.0 64GB. I first tested these sticks on the USB 3.0 port on my Lenovo Yoga 730 laptop without a hub. Photo #1 shows the result of a SANDISK USB 2.0 test plugged directly into a USB 3.0 port. The reading speed is 25-30MB/s and the writing speed is 6-15MB/s, which is quite normal. Photo #2 shows the results of a PNY 3.0 plugged directly into a USB 3.0 port. Average read and write speeds are 85-105 MB/s and 20-80 MB/s, respectively. I then repeated these tests with the hubs. No photo. Figure 3 shows the result of plugging a PNY 3.0 stick into a USB 3.0 port through my old VOGEK 3.0 hub. The results are similar to Photo 2, meaning the VOGEK hub has very little impact on read and write speeds. This is what you would expect from a properly working USB 3.0 hub. Now let's look at the results of the LYFNLOVE 3.0 hub. Photo 4 shows that the read and write speeds are 25-30MB/s and 12-25MB/s, which are very low speeds for USB 3.0 standards (very similar to photo #1). In other words, the LYFNLOVE hub is NOT a USB 3.0 hub, it is a USB 2.0 hub. LYFNLOVE advertises their hub as 3.0 which is wrong! If you have a PC with USB 3.0 ports and use a LYFNLOVE hub, your read and write speeds will be 3-4 times slower. I have returned the item.
