My laptop headphone jack broke so I bought this as a replacement. This works well, although you'll need to make sure your USB device is fully plugged in, as well as your headphones, otherwise you won't hear any sound. I feel like the connector on this USB is a bit loose due to my headphones falling out from time to time. Other than that, I don't feel like it changed the sound quality. Everything is just as loud and good. It's also easy to use, you just plug it into your laptop and you're done. Separately, I note the microphone. It has a microphone jack and will interfere with your built-in microphone. I don't have an external microphone, so it annoyed me that USB replaced my microphone when nothing was connected. However, this can be fixed! On Windows, right-click the speaker icon and select Recording Devices. Right-click on your laptop's microphone, click "Set as default device" and click "Set as default communication device" again and it's fixed. I have to do this every time I turn on my laptop and it's annoying, but you only need to do this if you skype a lot or record with your laptop's mic.
