The 3DS has a great lineup of games, especially in the RPG realm. It's backward compatible with DS games if that's your concern too. Games I would recommend to start with; Fire Emblem, Zelda: The Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 3D land. So if you're concerned that your adult hands might be too big for the 3DS when choosing between that or the 3DS-XL, I'd definitely recommend going for the XL. . I don't have very large hands for a 25 year old, but I do find my hands a bit cramped when playing him (although you can buy one of these pens for him). The screen is also very small. So if those are factors for you, you might want to take a look at the 3DS-XL. Adding 3D to its games depends a lot on the game itself. Fire Emblem does a great job here, especially in videos. However, long gaming sessions can cause eye strain over time, and many users turn this feature off. The gyroscope works very well and works great in Orcarina of Time, but if you're in 3D it will force you to move the 3DS out of the "best position" and introduce a bit of blur and double vision.
