EDIT: Three months later the unit stopped heating above 75 degrees. The average temperature in my house is 74°C, so I don't risk using this device in the winter months. I can feel very little heat coming from the heater when I put my hand on it in the tank. But I think it turns off too quickly. I was hesitant to buy it after reading the complaints that the temp hadn't risen above 74. But I decided to give it a try as it was still the top rated mini heater on the market. Luckily I wasn't disappointed. I currently have this installed in a 1.1 gallon tank. I have two thermometers. The best quality of the two readings is an average temperature of 78.1. In a month of use, I noticed that the temperature ranged from 77 to 79.3 degrees depending on the house temperature. My Betta is very happy. As it is summer I plan to update this review in winter when the heating has to work harder. I would also like to point out that the packaging says that the set temperature of the heater can be turned off within 1.8 degrees + or -. That could explain why some people buy heaters that don't heat to the advertised 77 degrees. I would not put it in a tank larger than 3 liters.
