Fits in our standard size hallway!

Okay, this looks like the fourth baby gate we've tried. UPS employee tired of picking up baby gates. We're using this gate with a small extension but have kept the rest in case we need to move it to the wider part of our hallway where our entrance is. During installation it was a little tricky to find the right part as all the extensions are different sizes, but after some trial and error we settled on it. These gates are strong and keep themselves open, which is very useful. The finish is nice compared to other goals and it doesn't feel like cheap plastic. I'm 5ft and can't step over it (and I can't step over most baby gates, that wide open was a must. There are only a couple of cons that I can think of: 1) When it swings open it's spring loaded. It also rotates beyond 90 degrees. You may need to put some sort of padding on the wall where it flops as it will likely flop. One of these doorknob wall protectors will do, we use table bumpers because our hallway wobbles so there's a cut out and it hits a corner. 2) Dressing the herrings, or whatever they're called, was a little flatbread. I blame it more on the wrench. 3) I think it can be tricky to put it in certain places due to the extensions, but you'll have to play around with trial and error to get it right. Our wall buffers hardly protrude, but they are long by default, so they fit almost anywhere. 4) The frame is strong, the latch is strong, but the door can be shaken. We had no problem slamming the latch, but I think if you've got a really tough Baby Hulk it can happen. 5) The frame isn't flush so watch your toes. Most expensive baby gate I have ever bought in 7 years I have bought baby gates and this is probably my favorite. The gate is not too heavy for a bigger child, it opens easily and everything stays in place. I really like the large opening and it fits perfectly in our entryway. I also like that the gate doesn't stretch out like the Summer Infant Rustic Home's security gate because then it's impossible to catch little fingers trying to hold on. We use this gate for two purposes: to prevent the dog from going down the corridor and not to write to anyone, and also to prevent the child from going up the stairs. It serves its purpose for both, and while the lower frame doesn't open up as it should, it's not bulky so you don't forget to step over it - most of the time. We are happy with our purchase even at this price. Point.
