My new laptop only has two USB ports, one of which is primarily occupied by my external keyboard and mouse combo. So a powered USB hub like this product might come in very handy when I need to connect two or more extra devices to my laptop. output ports) that exceeds the power consumption limit of the single USB 3.0 port to which it is connected on the PC. However, I haven't tested that yet. The wording in the user manual gives the impression that the power adapter is only used to activate the (orange) charging port - it even warns against using the (blue) USB 3.0 ports for charging. So this whole power issue is unclear to me in relation to this hub. But the bottom line is that this hub performed excellently in the simple tests I ran, so I'm giving it five stars. It was a plug and play setup: I just plugged the power supply into the hub and then plugged the hub into my PC. Shortly after that I was able to use the hub. After all, the power cord is only a meter long. A longer cable would have been helpful for my computer setup.
