DISCLAIMER: I may not have read the product description very carefully or did my due diligence to know exactly what I am getting. However, I didn't expect them to be so small. When they say mini, they mean mini. There are definitely many colors that go well together for practice. I bought this at the same time as a book that goes into detail about the different crochet stitches. I love to crochet, but I'm only good at the basics. I want to get better, so this little set of mini skeins will give me some practice. Who knows, maybe I'll get a hat or two out of it by winter. :)
