Review on 🥩 Meat Thermometer for Dual Ovens by Jessica Russell

Temperature Range Too High

This item is HUGE! I purchased to control the temperature of the meat when grilling prime rib in the Ronco grill. No matter what Ron Popeil says, you can't "set it and forget it" if you want your roast to be cooked to perfection. I bought this and another polder sensor that only monitors meat temp hoping to find one that works. The first thing I noticed was that the meat temperature range for this thermometer is between 120 and 200 degrees. When the core temperature reaches 120 degrees, I remove the grilled ribs from the grill or oven, let them rest until the core temperature reaches 130 degrees, then slice and serve. In principle, this thermometer is practically useless for standing ribs or spare ribs. I have to use it for those occasions when I'm making a grilled/oven roast pork or regular roast beef. It's not adjustable and I've had several far-flung meat thermometers. I have learned never to check a meat thermometer until I have verified its accuracy. Since the highest temperature on this thermometer is 200 I can't even do a boiled water test as the water boils at 212. I checked the oven temp dial by putting it in the oven at 375. It measured 375. I put it in the second oven at 350. He measured 350 exactly! So we know that the oven temperature scale is accurate. So overall it's like an accurate thermometer. I give 4 stars. One star deducted for being too hot. Who cooks something up to 200 degrees? The best range would be 100 to 180 degrees!
