This is more than necessary. Why? Is there a standard for filling really thick bags? The picture is misleading to show next to the phone. It's MUCH more than a phone, unless you've got one of those stupid new phones that enslave you to carry it around like a 50's teenager with a stack of textbooks and no backpack. In any case, when playing with leads, the counter works to ensure they make contact. Mine wasn't working OOB and had to fiddle with it after I fiddled with the battery compartment. ha ha. Someone told the designer they needed a "battery boxβ and they took it literally: they tried their best to turn the puzzle box into this thing. I'm pretty sure the battery backlight is fading, so some gorilla tape may be needed to make a little handle to peel off that "cover". Ever heard of captive screws? You might want to google it. The application is actually better at logging data than the General Tool. I'm not a programmer but I need to find someone to write a communication tool to log data with these things. It's not that hard, but apparently the tool makers think we all need a "special application" rather than a simple spreadsheet link that reads a stream of standard-format numbers into useful columns of data. The measuring device does not save any data, so why has the cryptic setting of the app, which actually does not draw anything, no options for plotting or editing, and wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I say I expect more from a meter and a "free" personal tracker (a logging app that needs location access?), but can it really be called "data logging" when you can jot down numbers faster than a computer can register them? And what about the beeping? When will Congress pass legislation mandating that every beeper must have a physical switch that turns it off? I'm tired of having to take things apart to cut wires. The instructions consisted of a single sheet of onion paper, folded in half in a way that only a 6-year-old could read. I didn't realize there wasn't enough paper, but I'll keep that in mind next time. You get what you pay for. $40 and Bluetooth connected with no fuss. The app works a little oddly and its graphics are suspect, but you can log data and view it remotely, so it's a nice cheap thing to fill that big hole in your toolbox. I'll just lose the cap anyway. The temperature doesn't seem to like going below 0Β°C. In the -20 freezer, the numbers quickly dropped to 0, and then slowly dropped a few degrees to -5. I wouldn't rely on it to make ice cream, but you could tell if the driver died recently.
