Review on KRUPS EC324050 Programmable Coffee Silver by Tara Greene

Obviously this thing has only one function - making coffee. The one I ordered was from stock which was basically either a scratch or dent or damaged packaging. Mine fell into the first category. The packaging was intact, but the bottom panel of the device was broken. I had to glue plastic fasteners to the bottom panel and then screw them back to the main body. After that, I brewed clear water through the system several times. You must read the instructions that came with the device to understand how to use it properly. I noticed that it is POSSIBLE to turn the hot plate on and off before brewing. Once it's on, set the time to keep warm and the desired temperature for the plate, 3 settings LM and H. We leave ours on H but I've checked L and M, they're pretty much useless though You don't want your coffee to be piping hot. This unit is very easy to clean after a brew and I appreciate the included water filter for the tank. It really helps improve the flavor of the coffee even though I only use bottled spring water. My ratio for brewing is 1 level cup with the included Krups spoon to 1 cup line on the liquid carafe. There is a very strong plastic smell during the first two infusions, but just leave the lid open to allow the smell to evaporate with the water. A few days of brewing and I no longer smell plastic. This brewery is neither faster nor slower than the old Black & Decker machine it replaced. Also, this setup looks very neat and stylish on my countertop. My old Keurig looks like a cheap piece of junk!
