I've only had four batches on my homebrewing journey, but on my last two I found I couldn't easily follow the suggested schedule with instructions . for filling. Thinking my beer was safe to bottle asked my local FB brew club group and they suggested checking my hydrometer (which I had to look up on youtube how to do it and then buy it as my hydrometer didn't come with it the tube was delivered, except what it was packaged). My drink wasn't ready yet but it made reading my hydrometer so easy. I was told I could use the tube that the hydrometer was inserted into, but this gives a base to attach the tube to to get a level reading - consider a home economics lesson if you're old enough , or even a science class - you'll get the most accurate reading by placing your liquids on a flat surface and being at eye level to read the measurement. Two of my drinks turned out great and got a lot of compliments.
