manufacturing defect; Was it a bad batch or a systemic issue?

I bought two of these tubes in part because I thought Michelin knew the tires and the specs listed them as being a bit thicker than some of the cheaper options. Unfortunately, both tubes had a manufacturing defect. There was a weak point where the valve was welded to the tube. The weakness showed up as small dimples on either side of the valve stem, and in both cases one of the dimples ruptured. The first pipe exploded before I rolled it out the driveway. The second tube traveled about 100 miles before failing. Thought I might be missing something, I even took the handlebars to a bike shop for them to look at. The hole was inside the tube so there was no problem with road debris being punctured. Likewise, the mechanic confirmed what I had already checked; The rim tape was in great shape with no spokes protruding through the rim. This left no explanation for the experience other than a manufacturing defect and the similar nature of both apartments confirms this. Now the only question is whether this is systematic with Michelin tubes or whether I just got a bad batch. I can say I will be buying non-Michelin inner tubes in the future and not risking this issue again, seriously jeopardizing a 4 day bike ride!
