Review on 🌑️ Scilogex 18900016 PT 1000 Temperature Sensor: Accurate and Reliable Temperature Monitoring Solution by Reginald Pitt

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not useful with MS7-H550-Pro

The sensor itself works well and is quite an adequate design. Most torches use a 3-wire 100 ohm RTD sensor. As far as I know only two Scilogex boards use this two wire 1000 ohm probe (these Scilogex boards will not work with the standard 100 ohm probe). Please note that Revain does not accept returns. When used with this sensor, the Scilogex MS7-H550-Pro hotplate behaves erratically. Numerous tests conducted with an external sensor and water temperatures between 80 and 100Β°C have shown that the units take hours to slowly approach set points in a meandering pattern, unexpectedly declining by 10-15Β°C without warning and sometimes generally deviate from the target values stop paying attention to the sensor readings. Throughout the strange behavior, the sensor's temperature was accurately displayed (checked with a second thermometer). Two of my devices with two different sensors showed the same behavior issues. In the end, the manufacturer said that the devices should probably work like this (but wanted me to send them in for testing). My Barnstead/Thermolyne units can reach setpoint quickly and without fuss when using an external probe, so I'm not inclined to believe this behavior is intentional. Long story short, if you're buying this sensor to use with the MS7-H550-Pro, they don't seem to work very well together (at least not in any of the tests I ran). You can return a burner, but Revain doesn't accept sensor returns, so you're stuck with it and can't use it with any other burner. I don't know if it works well on the less expensive Scilogex burners; My experience is only with MS7-H550-Pro.
