Thank you for calling. I would discard it and give it a star. The cork can be pulled out normally. But when I try to get the cork out of the corkscrew, the dual handles don't grab or hold the cork, so I pull the corkscrew out. Also, the little springs on the dual handles keep pushing them apart so I can't conveniently store them in the top drawer of the counter. The two handles are so loose that I can sometimes squeeze them (one up, one down) to hold the cork while I pull to get it out. It's either poorly designed or poorly assembled. I am sorry. It looked promising. My previous one worked great for many years (until the handle broke off). So I looked for a more durable one.
