I have a homemade cane that I made because I couldn't find anything serious. I made it the diameter of a crutch (more than an inch in diameter, or for those having trouble with math, "fat"), which is the minimum to steady a person for all four seasons support. For short women and metrosexual men (tiny and skinny), sticks under two inches may be fine, but for muscular veterans like me, these are toothpicks, not real sticks.
