This box is not going to perform like a full-function DVR such as Tivo, but for the price, it is a great solution for watching and recording local programming using an antenna. Recording of a show has to be set up manually by inputting the day, time, and channel, but it can be set up for daily or weekly recording for recurring shows. The remote is a little small and sometimes requires pushing a button more than once to get a response. The buttons on the remote are also not laid out in a particularly intuitive fashion, but once you get used to it, it works OK. You do have to add your own hard drive or flash drive. I used a 32 GB flash drive at first and found it worked fine, but I could only record 4-5 hours of programming on it. I then tried it with an older USB 2.0 500 GB hard drive that I had, and found it works well with that as well. I just purchased a new USB 3.0 1 TB hard drive for under $60 to use with it and that also works well. I just purchased another of these units for my Mom, which enabled her to do away with her satellite dish. She mostly watched and recorded only local stations, so this box with an antenna keeps her happy and saves her considerable money. I gave the box 5 stars since I think it's a great value for the money. If you want a full function DVR, save your money and spend several times this amount for a Tivo or similar unit. But for the cord-cutter who wants to save money and simply have the ability to record a few local shows in beautiful HD over an antenna, this box is a great solution.
