Review on Gates 38411 Belt Tensioner by Michael Hale

I didn't want to replace the entire tensioner on my 2003 V6 4Runner, I used the wrong Gates idler pulley for a while and then decided to replace it. The reason is that with the wrong Gates idler pulley, the V-ribbed belt ends up on the edge of the pulley and the screw doesn't screw in as deeply as with the OEM idler pulley. That's why I didn't want to swap the whole tensioner. because everything still seemed fine, I just used a pulley from a new Gates tensioner. It was the perfect replacement. I wish they only sold that pulley and reverse threaded bolt!
