Bought a cheaper knock sensor for $15. CEL stayed. With that, Beck-Arnley CEL didn't come back after more than 50 miles of driving. The car is a 2003 Toyota Corolla. If you remove the intake manifold to gain access to the knock sensor, note that there is a 3/8" pipe fitting on the driver's side that connects directly to the intake manifold. next to the "throttle body" which will likely come loose. This is called the brake vacuum hose. So make sure it's reconnected when you remove the intake manifold to access the knock sensor.
