I sew cross stitches all the time. I use an 8" round hoop. When I saw them I thought they would be a great substitute as 99% of the patterns are NOT round. I was trying to move my partially completed Christmas stocking project to the second largest hoop and COULD use it Hoops not securely attaching to the stretched fabric as taught.There is a ridge and notch between the hoops which led me to believe that once I attached the fabric would not loosen over time.but due to the protrusion /the notch I wasn't able to get the pre-sewn fabric firmly in place.Also the nut that the top bolt goes in to tighten the hoop is just loose and actually fell out when I tried to tighten the Stretching fabric between hoops Dealing with loose nuts and hoops that just won't attach to pre-sewn fabric A loose nut is an absolutely absurd design flaw and the rib/divot sys tem sounds good but doesn't work. I could maybe use the biggest hoop, but it's really *quite* big and would be awkward for me on my stand. =
