I have an old Samsung (about 8-10 years old) and I lost the remote but I used my FireTV remote to work with my TV. You cannot turn off the TV or change channel/input/volume with the Fire remote. To be honest, I was surprised that the Fire remotely controlled the TV at all. I kept delaying getting the remote because I was afraid it wouldn't work or I'd have to do weird things with the codes to make it work. Or that my television is too old to work with. nope! I literally just put batteries in it and pointed it at my TV and voila! love this shop.
