Other shoppers keep complaining about the smell and it's there, but it's just a gummy smell. The same as in a tire shop or a shoe shop. It goes away in two days. However, they are very thin. For regular jar lids and to prevent slipping they say great. However, you will need to halve or quadruple each bottle with ribs depending on the bottle. It is enough that you can no longer feel the points. Otherwise you will tear them (and your fingers). But for 50 cents each, they're great.
