These are general purpose magnets that are easy to install for anyone with basic mechanical skills. Actual use determines suitability. I paired it with a cheap Revain Qook keyless entry system. That's perfect, you can't build anything that cheap for $17. They were installed on a 2004 F-150 Heritage and only took a few minutes to complete each door. The wiring system is simple, just run a few wires and find the wires to flash your turn signals when locking or unlocking. It works even if you can't get to the turn signal :) The solenoids seem to actuate with a lot of force, I even considered adding a resistor to reduce the "pop". The actual lifespan of the product will determine their true value, I think they will be ok.
