Review on Raleigh Bikes Rowdy Youth Years by Mood Neboet

Great bike, needs tuning

Bought this bike for my 41" 4 year old who has outgrown his 12" starter bike. The color is more yellow than green, but still looks good. Assembly was very easy despite Raleigh's best efforts. I understood all the basic steps without having any bike maintenance experience. Just about an hour, I'll take my time. It comes with an "assembly guide" which isn't very extensive and only covers adult bikes - you'll have to read between the lines to fit it to this bike. It's pretty easy to understand though - pop the seatpost into its slot and tighten, place the handlebars where you want the handlebars to look and tighten, mount the front wheel and attach the brake hoses. At the same time without experience. I still had to pay a bit with it to take it to the bike shop and set it up properly - brake pads adjusted, hoses properly tensioned etc. Now that I've seen it, I might be able to do it myself next time. But I might as well ask if it would cost about the same to just put it together in a shop. Finally, my child is quite small for his age - 41 inches. on it because it was very difficult to install and start even with the seat fully folded down. he barely has enough (plenty of room to grow!). I don't think it's going to be a big issue with the max size as when he grows up he'll have to transition to bigger bikes anyway. save, the kid loves it. The transition from crazy footbrake to there is excellent, and he switched to handbrake immediately with no issues. The wide handlebars seem to give it a little more control, and the aggressive riding position suits that. He's much happier to have a bigger bike that lets him get around faster.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Slightly dented
