Review on ELEGOO Nano V3.0 Board without USB Cable, CH340/ATmega+328P, Arduino Nano Compatible (Pack of 3) by Shannon Harris

Great little project board! Finished work on Big Sur

What a great price - 3 nano boards for about $5 each. This is a true ATmega chip and while the USB driver chip is not the more common FT brand, no drivers are needed in 2021. I love that it's a tiny Arduino compatible board, very inexpensive, and has exactly what I need to make a project out of it - no headers, just a USB header, simple LEDs, and through-holes. The unregulated power input is amazing (default for nano style), I can just plug it into the 12V DC wall adapter already used in the rest of my project. It has a range of digital and analogue ports including 6 pulse width modulation. ports. I'm just getting back to Arduino so this is probably pretty standard stuff, but it's great to see so much potential in a tiny computer that's now the cheapest part of almost a project. 2021 update for Macs using Big Sur - this now works out of the box. Don't install any additional drivers, just plug it in and install Arduino IDE 1.8.3 (labeled experimental). In the Arduino IDE, set the board to "Arduino AVR Boards > Arduino Nano" and the processor to "ATmega328P". For the port, select the one that starts with "/dev/cu.usbserial" or "dev/tty.usbserial" and you're done. My only criticism of this board is the mini-USB connector. It would be nice to see micro-USB or even USB-C, but that's really a minor issue - cables aren't expensive, and most of us have an old mini-USB cable gathering dust somewhere.
