Review on Winco Cutting Board 1 Inch White Kitchen & Dining by Krystal Boyd

One Perfect cutting board

Cool cutting board. Worth every penny. Bought as a gift for my wife but actually for me. we both love it The size is perfect, big but not bulky and its thickness is great. I read a review from someone who claimed that buying a polyethylene cutting board over 1/2" thick was a waste of money because you never wear the board out before the surface has been pierced with knife cuts. Whatever the case, there's a good reason to buy a thick cutting board like this. We put it next to the sink. All waste from cutting vegetables, fruits or other things we throw or wipe directly into the sink because it is higher than the edge of the sink. Some reviewers say that 1/2 inch thick boards warp, this 1 inch thick board is out of the question. Another reviewer (of the Winco 18x24 large PE board) states that the surface showed signs of shipping damage. Our board has some surface imperfections which are textured on the surface itself, no dents, nicks or grooves, which will not affect the boards performance. This is more like areas of haze versus a glossier finish. With a little knowledge of injection molded products, there will always be surface non-uniformities on a large piece of plastic like this because the cooling rate is different from one end to the other. Our board was not damaged in transit and the shrink wrap was attached. The board has a textured grip pattern but is not very aggressive. Another reviewer claims that two 1/2 boards were glued together to make one. Just not true. Plastic molded parts usually require two dies which are usually connected, the plastic is injected into the cavity and as it cools the two dies move apart to release the product, with just where the two dies meet, a line is formed. The chopping board is durable and wears great, washes very easily from one veg/fruit juice to another and is still small enough to pop in the sink for a thorough clean and let dry. The size is perfect for most produce, even a large turkey. The downsides are that there's no juice groove/indentation to catch excess liquid and it's quite heavy, although that wasn't a problem for us. Doesn't fit in our dishwasher. I don't think it needs to be washed in the dishwasher as it is non-porous and very easy to hand wash with soap and water. It looks so good we keep it on the counter. However, it is easy to remove when we need extra counter space. After reading 50-60 wooden cutting board reviews, I quickly realized that I'm not one to want to oil a cutting board, and yet it's going to fall apart in a few months. No, this board is for life and looks great without fuss. It's so nice to have a product that is beautifully simple and does its job perfectly without all the bullshit. Highly recommended.
