Review on Finnex Hang-On Box External Refugium Breeder with Water Pump by Tonya Brown

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Versatile but a bit small for its purpose and price. risk of overflow.

Pros: - Easy to assemble - Can use included pump or air pump to circulate water - Dividers and lids are useful and easy to use Cons - Smaller than expected for valve box - Risk of overfilling if not adjusted correctly because of insufficient drainage. Pay attention to the sizes. If you use both delimiters, the space available in each section is quite small. I wouldn't think it's big enough to raise fry, but it's useful for my purposes. This makes it easier for small sea fish to get used to the drip. It's fine for a 29 or 20 long side with some room, but a little too wide for a 10 gallon short side. A fish slipped out of the drain hole because I forgot to install the fence, which is in my accessory bag. This fence was later clogged slightly with some debris and seaweed when I used it as a mini sanctuary for my chaeto algae. It started overflowing and dripping onto the floor. I have found that the cams on the bottom should not be set level but at an angle to the aquarium. The cams also need to be pushed in hard enough to stay in place. This prevents flooding if the outlet becomes clogged, which I think is too low. It's a great concept but a bit small for the price. You should make it a little wider to use the full width of the 29/20 long side of the tank, and maybe a little wider in the other direction. A smaller version fitted to the 10 gallon shortside would be fine, as would larger versions fitted to other standard tank sizes.

Cons
