Before K&N 08/21 41 tanks After K&N 22.59 4 tanks 1-3-12 My gas mileage has increased since I installed the K&N filter. I replaced the filter that came with the Santa Fe after a year. On my 1994 Toyota pickup, the mileage increased by about 1 mpg. So that most people don't get bored, I give the details at the end of the review. I have used K&N filters since the 1980's and have never had an issue with increased engine wear or component damage. As a mechanic, I service my cars. In 2010 I sold my 1994 Toyota pickup that I've owned since 1994 new and K&N since 1995. It has over 130,000 miles on it, doesn't eat oil and is still 3rd owned by K&N which I bought back in 1995. My 1996 Honda Civic is still 3rd owned by K&N which I also bought. I won't bore you with my other cars that have used K&N filters. Being frugal, I study products carefully and keep my cars for as long as possible. I get the best parts just to be safe, who wants to rebuild using cheap parts? I've been tracking my 2011 Santa Fe's gas mileage since it was new. I received the car on 12/10/2010. My average mileage before the K&N filter was 21.08 and my last two fills before the K&N filter were 19.32 and 19.65 probably due to the winter gas mix. After K&N I got 24.72, 20.48, 21.69 and 23.46. I take the miles traveled and divide it by the gallons added. As of today, my average mileage is 21.22 and my car mileage calculator is 22.73. The car calculator is 6.64% off and it is factory calibrated for gasoline without ethanol and my 2003 Corolla drives about 7.83 miles less on ethanol so the car calculator would be 1.19 off if I used gasoline with this calculation could buy without ethanol.
