Overall OD too large

Bought these to protect my wheels if I spin them but the overall OD is larger than the unprotected impact socket. So much so that the protected bushing doesn't even fit in the wheel mounting hole. I'm sorry but I couldn't measure them with calipers before returning. I'll most likely just take some heat shrink tubing and wrap around the shock bushings (x2?) which I'll have to see if that offers enough protection.
