I bought these for my mother-in-law's rustic mountain cabin and they fit in perfectly. First of all, she's a canner; jams, jellies, pickles, applesauce, if it fits in a jar, she will can it. Second, the aqua blue color is a soft pastel, not too flashy and described as shabby chic. Made of ceramic, they resemble the old style Mason jars but the lids are not the usual metal screw top used on canning jars as they are part of the mold and painted to look like them.The shake holes on top are not adjustable but we have not had any trouble with large amounts of salt pouring out the top. Any concerns about moisture can be dealt with by adding rice to the salt shaker.They hold 3.5 ounces each so they are smaller than they appear in the pictures but there are 8 ounce shakers available if you need them. They also come in other colors including red, clear, even a distressed white which is rather cute.The price is affordable and there are lots of other kitchen doo-dads and utensils to match your set. I'm looking at the ceramic measuring spoons for her kitchen right now.
