I needed such a lens that it was at least a little better than the whale 18-55. At first it seemed - wow, how wonderful he is, how wonderful! You can wind the filters, there is a convenient focus ring, and (thanks to the dimensions) it is much easier to show off in front of the young ladies. But . Perhaps this is the fault of a particular specimen that came across to me, however, in comparison with a whale, it: - three times more expensive; - twice as heavy; - has a trunk that constantly falls out spontaneously; - gives the worst picture quality, because it is very, very, very unsharp (which many have already written about here). It is the latter that is critical for me. I compared Canon 18-135 on two different cameras with a whale lens, focused manually and on the machine, with different apertures . The difference in soapiness is very noticeable. Alas!
