Misleading and disappointing.

I don't usually write long and long product reviews, mostly because I don't really care about product reviews. But this particular product was so incredibly frustrating and frustrating to use that I felt a real urge to write about it. First off, I really, really wanted to like this product. Compared to many competitors, this device stood out better. Not only is it cheap for a capture card of this spec, it also offers features that many of its competitors don't have, such as: B. USB-C connectivity and HDMI 2.0 pass-through. A big plus, which I personally appreciate, is the well-documented product description, which is surprisingly rare on many of these third-party capture card devices. When I connected it to my Xbox Series X and my monitor with an HDMI 2.1 cable. I couldn't resolve 4K with an HDMI 2.0 cable. Just to be clear: Xbox has settings to allow 4K content but does not set your monitor/TV resolution to 4K. This means things like game clips will be recorded in 4K, but your monitor won't upscale images to the resolution that I usually have this option enabled for. Anyway, I initially thought it was because of different cable versions, so I used identical HDMI 2.0 cables, which didn't work either. In addition, the maximum supported resolution was given as 720p. Nothing else was listed and I was only given other options after restarting my console and monitor. This gave me the ability to use 1440p but only at 60hz. Another reset of the console and switching to manual scaling, I was finally able to set it to 120hz but only at 1080p. After reading the provided manual a bit, it even states that the pass-through ports are rated and capable of an HDMI 2.0 resolution, so I saw no reason why it couldn't work at 1440p120Hz. Quite frustrated at this point I looked again at the 4K settings and apparently the reason I couldn't enable the 4K option at all was because the adapter reported that the maximum value it could handle was is actually 4K30 (which Xbox 30Hz doesn't support), as opposed to the advertised 4K60. For those who don't know, 4K30 is actually the maximum specification for HDMI 1.4, a step down from the advertised HDMI 2.0 and the reason I had so much trouble getting the 1440p120hz through pass-through. and 4K content: Because the pass-through connections were actually not HDMI 2.0, but HDMI 1.4. And to top it all off, upon opening the device in OBS I was greeted with artifacts, poorly scaled 720p footage that completely froze after 5 minutes. I just can't think of any other words for it. Possibly one of the worst products I have received from Amazon, I will 100% return it. I might order it again just to see if what I originally got wasn't a bad apple or something for some reason, but oh my god.
