Review on πŸ”§ Advanced AstroAI Digital Clamp Meter Multimeter: Amp Voltage Tester Auto-ranging with AC/DC Voltage, AC Current, Resistance, Capacitance, Continuity, Live Wire Test, Non-contact Voltage Detection - 2000 Counts by James Cross

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Small price for big features, fixed DC measurement, 3-star to 5-star ramp

I compared the voltage, resistance and capacitance of this instrument to my basic Fluke 101. The measurements are acceptable. close to each other. I don't have an actual measurement on my base Fluke so I couldn't make a comparison. The NCV function works much the same as my Milwaukee NCV. UPDATED 5 Star Rating: The DC measurement is very sensitive to the earth's magnetic field lines, which means that the measurement will be offset from the earth depending on the orientation of the instrument (see photos of the 2 air measurement directions and the offset caused by the orientations) . To counteract the earth shift, 1) hold the instrument in the orientation in which the measurement will be taken, 2) press the ZERO button to tare to zero, 3) take the measurement in the same orientation as when taring of the instrument. If you change orientation, you must zero tare before measuring again. In my original review, I was unaware of the interference from the earth's magnetic field and gave the instrument 3 stars, thinking it was defective. ORIGINAL 3-star rating: DC current measurement is questionable. Squeeze the claw around the wire, I get a reading of +0.50. Squeeze the claw in reverse around the same wire, I get a reading of -0.80. The reading should be -0.50. I'm just reversing the polarity, the difference should only be in sign, not magnitude. (See UPDATE above, the difference in readings is due to the earth's magnetic field, not an instrument problem. Use the ZERO button to tare the earth offset.)

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Not everything fits
