I have two kids and a wife who suffer from oil fingers and I didn't pay for it so don't worry 😐. I had the original flat panel remote which had a lot of issues so I bought this new one although the hard plastic was great and kept falling off the table or couch due to the conditions of my wife and kids. This thing was cheap, added texture, made it easier to grip, and protected from falls. It fits well enough that I can see the backlit keys and use the keys easily, and the glow-in-the-dark feature greatly increases visibility. Money well spent I would say
