A new 20-volt battery cannot be charged smoothly.
This product has a very bad design. The socket that the battery pack is inserted into is loose and the battery pack is unable to properly position the battery pack to make contact with the charging leads. I was able to support the battery by applying several layers of tape to the left side of the charger's battery slot and then being careful not to shake the charger while charging. I returned it and ordered a used Dewalt charger for $26 (including shipping).
