Mad After a Month

I decided to write this review because it was twice. I bought the 20A and 100A versions and both failed the same way. I have this (100A version) that measures the input from my solar panels (0-60V, 0-60A). At first it worked great, but then, like the 20A version, after a while I noticed that the accumulated power (kWh) started to decrease. A day later it restarted on its own. Then I noticed that the voltage was higher than it should be, so I checked it with a reliable multimeter and indeed, slowly (over several days) it continued to increase the voltage reading. This also affected the performance measurement. At the same time, I had the backlight on and it became very difficult to see the screen. So I turned off the backlight and that fixed the unreadable screen for about a day. Then the backlight would turn on by itself again, then off, then back on, etc. Then it would start blinking. The flashing could also have been caused by it detecting a (false) high voltage and therefore triggering an alarm (which is flashing on the screen). Every time I look at it, it's either completely off, showing all 8 on screen, blinking, or showing unreliable data. Now it's like a game to see what it will show when I watch it. Maybe the morning and evening slowly rising and falling voltage of my solar panels is erasing / manipulating their program, but if so, it's a weak design. I would not recommend this for critical applications.

Pros
  • The blue backlight can be turned on and off with a front-accessible, recessed switch on the right side panel.
Cons
  • Hard to say
