Review on MikroTik RB941-2nD RouterBoard hAP Lite: Affordable 2.4GHz Home Access Point by Adam Listopad ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect product for any user!

Here in the reviews they wrote a lot and, since I spent a decent amount of time testing it, I want to contribute my "5 kopecks" in the form of personal conclusions. The router will be very useful for those to whom the standard capabilities of routers in the approximate price-power category will be small (various tunnels, vpn, autonomous hotspot, etc.). If a router is needed only for simple distribution of the Internet from the provider to a small number of customers and only then there is no point in buying it (you can, of course, organize a router + another access point, but that's another "song"). At rates up to 30 Mb/s (inclusive), there will be no drop in speed over WiFi, but at a rate of 100 Mb/s it will noticeably lose to those similar in price to TP-link, Asus, Xiaomi, etc. I did a bunch of tests with different settings and routers , fortunately I have several of them, depending on the combination of router-adapter, the loss in speed is on average 30-40% and, of course, in terms of range, it is also inferior to some models, especially with external and removable antennas. Moreover, if speed is important, and special network organizations are not needed, then you can, without adding very much, take a router with support for the 5GHz range. But if you like to "be weird" with networks and you need non-standard solutions, then this kid with an excellent Router OS, and at such prices, will be just a gift, since this OS is much more interesting to me personally than DD-WRT or OpenWRT, which are also can be put on most popular routers!

Pros
  • A wealth of networking settings
Cons
  • Drop in WiFi speed with 1xWAN, 3xLAN remains, not 4 like most
