Review on RCA Remote Control 4 Functions by Ashley Santiago

I was trying to use this controller with a Sansui TV. The programming code I used was one of several listed in the document that came with the console. Once programmed, I was able to turn the TV on and off. The volume worked great. The numeric keypad also worked. I was able to use all the functions except for the MENU button. Pressing the button has nothing to do with the TV. What actually happened is that after pressing the MENU button, the controller blinked 23 times and then quickly blinked 3 more times. I assumed it was an error code and attempted to contact RCA through the website listed on the box. The web page contains a link to send an email. So I created an email asking for help to determine if the remote was physically defective or if it was a programming error on their part. Three times a couple of times I received an email basically saying to look at the remote programming instructions on the website. The same information that was already included in the remote control box. So the first time I took a closer look at the site and made sure there was nothing else they could link to. There was nothing else. Apparently they didn't even bother to read my email. I could say it because every answer I got from them was the same. After this nonsense I contacted Revain and they said they would send me a second controller to see if the problem could be controller specific. . I got myself a second controller and put in new batteries. It did not work. I took a closer look and the battery compartment contact springs needed to be lengthened. I took a knife blade and stretched the feathers. After inserting the batteries, the controller started to work. Clearly poor quality control. I programmed a second controller and got the same resulting LED blink error code. It appears to be a bug in the manufacturing software and this bug exists in all controllers. It is a pity that this problem could not be solved at the supplier/manufacturer level. Instead, both Revain and I were forced to spend time TESTING the manufacturer's controllers. I have never had such a disappointing result from any product. I urge anyone reading this review to use another manufacturer's product. It's clear that RCA's response to my support requests is proof that the company doesn't really care about supporting the products they sell. I would recommend Revain to drop this supplier.
