Review on πŸš€ Enhanced Orbi WiFi System (RBK43) AC2200: Unparalleled Speed and Coverage by Scott Yenson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Interesting experiment, but back: there are kinks that need solving

I tried replacing the Asus firewall router and Ubiquiti AC Pro hotspot with this one. I didn't buy it from Revain and will be returning it in a few days. It has an interesting set of features, including a few things I'd like to have but didn't work well with what I had before. I first tried it in its typical architecture, where it had the primary role of a firewall, and in our experience it seemed pretty unstable. A couple of times the satellite got stuck without self-healing, which didn't please the family. Uses the Ethernet backplane function. Then I put Asus back in charge of the firewall and put them in hotspot mode just to try to use the mesh for WiFi purposes. It was PITA, took a few hours with support to set it up and set it up, but looks like it's a buggy setup as well. The router and satellites finally seem to be stable, but only the router seems to be accepting WiFi clients, making it less useful. So I ordered a second Ubiqiuiti router and will use it to extend our WiFi instead. If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them, even if it's from the company. I've learned that Disney Circle's built-in functionality is a "free" model, which requires you to purchase a monthly subscription to get the same functionality as the standalone Circle device. Support was very helpful, got points for being available 24/7, but had to wait an hour for them during the day on the west coast.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • is confusing
