Review on πŸ”Œ Maverick Wireless Thermometer With 2 Probes - Remote-Check Technology by Lori Williams

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good but lots of room for improvement

Overall I'm pretty excited about this item. I bought it from Revain as it was the top rated wireless thermometer. It certainly works well, but there's plenty of room for improvement. After a 12 hour smoke, here are my first thoughts: Pros: * Multiple probes * Easy to read display * Long cords (about 4 feet) for convenience * Decent range (can walk almost anywhere in the house within 10 meters or a line) out of sight) Cons: * Intermittent signal - lost/found signal from time to time. * No signal loss alert. * No low temperature alarm. * No display backlight. * You can make the buttons more intuitive. * No space to add/buy additional sensors. My biggest complaints relate to the lack of a signal loss beep and the lack of a low temperature warning, and here's why; After lighting the smoker at 5am I felt like getting some sleep. I took the wireless receiver into the living room where it was still picking up a signal (almost in a straight line 10 meters from the smoker). It received a signal for about 10 minutes, and eventually I felt comfortable and fell asleep. I woke up about an hour later and eventually the device lost the signal and made no audible sound. Without that feature or the low temp feature, you really have to control it manually. It would be very valuable for those two simple software updates. This was my first wireless BBQ thermometer but it seems pretty simple. I would probably recommend it to a friend but also looking for a few alternatives.
