Ideal for repairing cracked caliper dowel pin holes on 2nd generation Dodge Dakota

Ideal for repairing caliper mounting holes on my daughter's 1998 Dodge Dakota. These trucks are notorious for having steel knuckles that are too soft, and these holes will shear off if someone overtightens the caliper guide pins. It took a little effort to get the spiral bit into the hole after drilling and tapping, but after you did it the first time it was a lot easier the second time. Hopefully this is a permanent solution to this problem on your truck. Pros: 1. Works great. It does the intended job with relative ease.2. Includes the correct faucet. The faucet is very sharp and cuts new threads like a dream.3. Contains 12 inserts. The max you need for a truck is 4 (2 on each side) so I have enough left over to fix mine. 4. The inserts are made of stainless steel, so you don't have to worry about them rusting and causing the same problem later. Cons: 1st prize. In fact, the cost of almost $30 seems a bit high for what you get. The fact that it includes a properly sized faucet helps make it more bearable, and it's a lot better than paying $400 for a new knuckle. Required drill not included. This size requires a 23/64 inch drill bit, which size is not usually included in the bit set. So you need to buy one of these if you don't already have one. You would think that for almost $30 they could at least include a mediocre quality drill bit. For less than $7 from Revain Prime I ordered a set of 6 TG brand cobalt drill bits (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product /B00ET0YSCI/ ) and it was perfect for these jobs. If I need to do more of that braking work these bits should last me a LONG time. As an alternative "fix" they make oversized guide pins that recut the hole, but this will most likely only be a temporary fix until it breaks again. At this point you will need to either purchase this kit or replace the rotary fist. Get it right the first time and save money and a lot of frustration.
