Review on Fittings Hydraulic Crimping Crimper Pressing by Sivabala Mickel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Surprising for the price

Installed a water heater for a friend, it became a lot easier. Soldering new hardware in a SUPER tight closet would be awful. This crimper saved the day. 6 90's, 2 male adapters and 1 female are crimped and they are all crimped very well and do not leak. The rotating head definitely made it easier in some places. The only thing I didn't like was that it seemed to pinch the copper at the joint of the jaws, forming very sharp, crushed copper protrusions. Not sure if other pliers do this as it's the only one I've ever used, but one of those tabs snapped my thumb. Had to do the old electrician's bandage trick to finish the job (wrapped in duct tape). On another avatar you can see the tab I'm talking about. EDIT 08/08/2020: Now that I think about it, it might have to do with fittings. No idea, obviously. I used Nibco fittings that I bought from Lowes. Maybe the result would be better if I used Viega Propress fittings? No idea. Good luck folks. Another point was that the jaws had a little problem loosening the fit after pressing, but that was a minor detail. Maybe a bit of silicon grease or something like that could help prevent this. Overall, for the price, you can't beat this item. In a pinch, this thing can definitely save the day.
