Headache during installation

Instructions are not very user friendly. Many small pictures and instructions are written in a separate section. It would be helpful to combine pictures with instructions to make the installation process clearer. Per the position shown, the valve had to be mounted on the 2 x 6 behind the wall studs so it could be adjusted to the desired depth. Luckily we had room behind the stilettos. Then we had problems with the valve head – the head screws were too short and the metal sleeve that the button sits on was too long. Luckily there was a white plastic ring behind the socket which we cut out to allow the socket to be further back for the grip to fit properly. There are NO instructions on how to set the depth. The biggest mystery is why the screws are so short. There is no reason a longer screw could not be used as there is room behind the hole they screw into. Because the screw is chrome-plated and has metric threads, it's not possible to find a longer replacement locally, and Grohe told us that's the only length available. I had to use what could be found at a hardware store. Grohe makes a very reliable product, but their engineering tolerances are frustratingly tight, so workarounds are inevitable.
