I bought this as a birthday present for my granddaughter. She's six, and this will serve two purposes: 1) get her interested in astronomy, and 2) get me interested in astronomy. It is very easy to assembly out of the box. In fact, there's hardly any assembly. You can be out there looking at the sky within half and hour if you read through all the literature that comes with it--even less if you're in a hurry.This telescope is lightweight, but sturdy. Perfect for the two of us beginners, but gives us room to grow. My view of the stars is very clear. There is so much out there that can be seen with the help of this piece of equipment. It also comes with a code that gives you a free download of the software called Stellarium. This software is so cool. You put in your zip code and it gives a view of the sky from your location. The sky can be viewed in a number of configurations. For example you can see the stars as you would see them in the sky; you can see them in relation to other stars within a constellation, etc. And if you click on a star, it shows you detailed information about it, including when it is viewable.
