I used to use carbon steel rivets for my project which are stronger but really hard to hand rivet. I replaced them with these and am much happier. Aluminum is lighter and not as strong, but they work great for my application, and the softer aluminum makes them very easy to hand rivet. the riveting tool is able to strip the thread when pressing in the rivet. This is solved simply by not closing the jaws of the riveter to the end. About half of the rivets seem optimal for a full rivet assembly without breaking the internal threads.
