Review on Durable Dee Zee DZ86700 Heavyweight Tailgate Mat in Grey/Black - Expert Quality! by Joshua Donnis

Excellent material but requires trimming, careful positioning and drilling. A good and safe installation requires moderate skill

Well made material. This item is classified as a general purpose tailgate protection mat and will most likely require some trimming to fit your tailgate. I used mine on a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. I had to trim both ends because the inner tailgate of my car has a embossed shape that tapers down. I also rounded the bottom corners. I did the trimming with a sharp utility knife (Stanley Box Cutter). I marked the cut lines with a black Magic Sharpie marker, then rested the end of the rug on a piece of scrap plywood and used a short piece of 1X2 lumber (about 20 inches long) as the straight edge for the trim. . You must be extremely careful not to injure yourself while cutting. If you are unfamiliar with cutting, try to find a qualified person to do the job for you so you don't cut yourself with a utility knife. This material is very strong and requires many passes to cut. The holes lined up for me. before creating the crop mark lines. Place the mat on the tailgate and adjust so it is centered side to side. Then look at the position from top to bottom and move it to the optimal position. I cut off one end before marking the other end because the rug was rolled up and I think that probably made the job neater because the material got a bit "tired" from twisting it for so long. And one more thing: if possible, cut and assemble it on a warm day in the sun, this will help later, when your car has warmed up in the sun, to eliminate the deformation of the expansion. Be sure. Don't cut yourself! Dee Zee DZ86700 heavy duty trunk mat
