Great for bird feeders! They stay clean so the chickens can use them for a week or even longer. Nest pads form on their body with use, forming a cozy nest. I occasionally add aromatic herbs, and since I don't change pods often, the herbs don't get lost. I also use them in the tray instead of bedding. The poo sits on top of the feed and I can just shake it off and replace it. They still need to be replaced every few days because they get dirty over time, but you can peel off the top layer when it gets dirty and keep using the pad. Finally, I just used them in my incubator for my chickens. Litter kept getting into her water so I put a very large dog potty pad in my incubator and added a few pads, spread out some litter material and placed water dispenser on one of them. Problem solved! I was washing the water containers every hour and suddenly I could really get away for a while knowing the chickens had access to clean water. I keep buying these mattresses, although at first they seem like a more expensive option than loose beds. I have found them to be worth any extra cost and are safe and natural for my chickens. I have 4 year old and 5 two month old children. So just a small herd. Many Thanks
